This weekend we traveled to Cleveland for the Wrestling National World Trials. My parents and Tim came over Friday evening. We had dinner with my dad's side of the family at Cracker Barrel. We have all decided that when we go to dinner we all need our own room because we are very loud! Of course, there was 13 of us....
We all left filled from homestyle food and fun!
Saturday morning at 5 am we staggered to the car to make our way to Ohio. We met up with my Uncle Bill and Shirley, Zeke and his family, and a few more friends. We had VIP seating in the front rows during all the matches. Tim and Jacob (3 y.o) wrestled out on the mat after the awards ceremony. At the tournament the top 7 wrestlers are invited to qualify and compete for a place on the world Olympic team. Every year there are the World Games and every 4 years the Olympics. This was a chance for the wrestlers to be seen by Zeke Jones(Olympic Freestyle Director and Coach) and the other coaches at colleges. Maybe we will go to see Tim wrestling there sometime. Some of the wrestlers were pushing 35 to 40 years old. They were beating or staying close with the 20-somethings! I was pleasantly surprised.
Of course there were female wrestlers there too! Sometimes the question came up: "Is that a guy or a girl?"
Overall, a great weekend to spend with family...meet new friends...and have a blast!
Many great laughs were shared (usually because of Jacob's wildness and ever-lasting energy!)
